According to Simon Young from the Journal of Psychiatry Neuroscience, a nonpharmacologic method of increasing serotonin (a neurotransmitter affecting moods, social functioning, and cognitive health) levels in the brain is through exercise. Exercise among other things such as diet, lifestyle choices, and general behavioral patterns have immediate and longer term effects on not only our health, but our productivity.
